It may be very well true that at one time, Hollywood represented a kind of artificial facade that was often confused with a real place. The land of glitz and glamor was always more exciting than any other city for hundreds of miles in any direction, and the persistence of illusion from the film industry made its effects entirely global. At one time, which probably could be argued to have lasted three generations, Los Angeles was synonymous with the artificial. Hollywood is not necessarily connected with artifice these days, or at least not in the same way. There are still plenty of possibilities for disorientation, however these are likely the result of fun rides and tours from a Go Los Angeles Card than from an unintentionally uncanny experience.

Today’s tours of Los Angeles have a generous mix of the invented and the real, the results of time and energy of the people here. Perhaps in larger part, however, the growing solid sense of historical depth comes simply as a result of generations. There are enough people with roots here that the L.A. neighborhoods are extremely distinctive. And even for families whose ties here are rather short, from first and second generation residents, the webs of connection tie them to older centers, older communities, and older traditions. All of these things make the city one of the most exciting on the west coast, and very likely, finally, in the world.

Logistics are the bane of travel planning. Instead of spending hours fantasizing about all the exotic sights, foods, and experiences ahead, travelers have to spend time researching hotels, transportation, and currency exchange systems. They will also need to make sure they have the proper travel documents and insurance for their trip. Unless they book themselves into a tour group that manages all the logistics for them, anyone heading overseas for vacation or work should budget plenty of planning time well in advance of their departure date.

There are, of course, numerous advantages to pre-planning. The most obvious is saving money. By planning ahead, travelers can lock in discount prices for a variety of things and insulate themselves from rising rates. They will be able to book airfares, reserve hotels, and hire cars as much as six months or a year ahead of time.

Another big advantage to planning ahead is peace of mind. There’s little risk that a hotel or flight will be full if it is booked months ahead of time. While a pre-planned trip looses a little in spontaneity, no one wants to be stranded in a foreign country without access to a car when their itinerary calls for a road trip to explore the countryside outside a major city.

There are lots of things that parents can do to ensure a safe visit to a theme park as part of a family vacation. The most important is to plan ahead. This means thinking about the weather, how large the park is and even what types of foods are available. Doing this will allow parents to invest in appropriate clothing and sunblock as well as plan for the ability of strollers or allergen-free snacks. Many of the medical and health problems that result in accidents are associated with sun, heat, food, and exhaustion. These things are easily prevented with a little forethought.

The next important thing is to stress to your children the importance of following all safety guidelines and listening carefully to ride attendants. This isn’t something that should wait until the kids are running around the park excited. They should be taught well in advance the behaviors and attitudes that will keep them safe once they are there. And parents should take especial care to demonstrate that behavoir at all times. It does no good to tell a child to follow the rules and then blatantly ignore them yourself.

There are statistics suggesting that Theme park accidents are rising. However, a good portion of accidents are attributed to negligence on the part of visitors. Teaching your kids to put safety first will significantly reduce the chance of your holiday being ruined by an accident, minor or major, and ensure that everyone has a good time.

A city that attracts 10 million visitors a year and has 17 nicknames must be a great place. The Big Easy certainly fits that bill. From Mardi Gras to Jazz, from amazing food to voodoo, the city has an almost mystic appeal to travelers from all over the world.

Mardi Gras is responsible for filling New Orleans boutique hotels and the streets of the French Quarter with hordes of partygoers, floats, and spirits. This ultimate party, US style, is the perfect last hurrah before the beginning of Lent.

New Orleans is considered the home of two distinctly American musical forms: Jazz and Blues. From small clubs and bars to International festivals, this is the place to hear great jazz and really feel the blues.

The city is known for its voodoo and haunted past. This makes cemetery and voodoo walking tours popular with those drawn to the darker side of things — or those wanting to poke fun at the dark side.

Food is another favorite past-time in New Orleans — next to drinking and music. In the city where cajun and creole cultures coexist, the food has evolved into something truly sublime. In addition to many good local eateries, there are a number of world-class chefs who have brought their cuisine to New Orleans, making the culinary choices truly international in flavor. No trip to the Big Easy would be complete with good food.

One last must see on a trip to Crescent City is the Mississippi. The river has played such a vital role in the city’s history, it needs to be included to get a full understanding of New Orleans.

Montreal offers a unique entre to French Canadian life and culture. Visitors to this decidedly international metropolis can spend their days and nights exploring the city’s world-class food, cultural events, and nightclubs. They can also choose to explore the city through its many festivals and events held throughout the year. From Jazz to Film, from Fireworks to Racing, Montreal has it all.

Music festivals in Montreal range from the granddaddy Montreal International Jazz Festival (the largest jazz fest in the world) to the POP Montreal International Music Festival. Smaller, genre festivals include Heavy MTL, Mutek, and Francofolies for heavy metal, electronic music and French music respectively. There’s also the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival which showcases alternative and indie rock and art.

Film fans can chose from a variety of festival throughout the year. The World Film Festival screens works from over 70 countries from established and new filmmakers while Festival du nouveau cinema de Montreal celebrates new filmmakers and media and Cinemania screen French films with English subtitles. Other film fests of note include Fantasia (fantasy and Asian films), Image+Nation (LGBT) and Les Rencontres internationales du documentaire (documentary film).

The big festival that may drive you to reserve a Montreal hotel room is Just for Laughs — Montreal’s largest festival which comprises indoor paid performances, a comedic film mini-festival, and free street comedy/theater. There’s also the Montreal International Fireworks Competition, the Festival du Monde Arab (celebrating Arab music and culture), and Montreal en lumiere, a winter festival featuring performing arts, indoor and outdoor activities, and food and wine.

The wildly successful DISH culinary event will return for a third year to San Francisco on September 30th. The event benefits local charity, Streetsmart4Kids , which works with area restaurants to provide assistance to local homeless children. This year’s DISH will provide samples from over thirty of San Francisco’s top restaurants and more than ten wineries. Held on the 4th Floor at the Metreon, City View, the event is close to several of the best San Francisco hotel s and attendees may want to book a room to make a true getaway night.

This year’s event is branching out to include food from some of the city’s top mobile kitchens and food trucks as well as fine dining restaurants and popular local eateries. Some of the vendors on the schedule include Cosompolitan Cafe, Farina, Gussie’s Chicken and Waffles, Lark Creek Steak, New Dehli, Oola, Papalote Mexican Grill, Pica Pica Maize Kitchen, Sandbox Bakery, Urban Tavern, and ‘WichCraft.
Finding a good, affordable way to ship your motorcycle overseas can be a daunting task, but if you use the suggestions given in this post, your motorcycle shipping can be as breezy as your ride.

To maintain a seamless process, it’s critical that a diligent and experienced facilitator be used. To know that you’ve found a reliable overseas motorcycle shipping company, they will help you get your bike ready for overseas, take care of ground transportation to a US port, take care of all necessary payments and paperwork with the overseas freight forwarder, keep you in the loop on all activity, and help you understand the process of getting the bike through customs by obtaining a broker at the destination country. In addition, they should take care of properly crating the bike if you plan to use air travel.

Then you need to pick how you want to transport your motorcycle overseas; ocean freight is the easiest and most cost effective way, but the downside is it will take 3 to 4 weeks in transit time. Shipping by plane only takes 1 to 2 days, but will cost you about $1,000 more.

If you choose shipping your motorcycle by ocean freight, marine insurance for partial and total loss can be obtained for bikes less than 12 years old. For bikes 12 year and above, you can only purchase a FPA policy, which is Free of Particular Average coverage. This allows you to only be covered for total loss and it comes with either a $250 or $500 deductible.

When you think of Grand Central Station in New York City most people think of a meeting spot for travelers coming in, out and through town, or just for flash mobs, but few people really think of all the other things that it is beyond just a train station. There is a reason it was named the Grand Central Station. The place is huge. It is large enough that there is a guided tour for it and there is no wonder. There are secrets hidden in these corridors that most people will never find.

High above the station itself sits the offices of John W. Campbell, a tycoon from the ’30s. It was a place for him to get away from the hustle and bustle of life underneath him and get down to real work. He didn’t just use it as an office though, for the most part he moved into it. Working by day up there and entertaining socialites by night. He was a smooth talker and a hard worker which explains how he got as much as he did. Looking around you would be tempted to say that this is nicer than any of the luxury hotels New York City offers now. Now there is a bar up there that claims to have some of the best cocktails in all of New York , one that they back up with the price tag for each one.

Underneath the tracks is a world of it’s own with a slew of attractions and places to explore. There are shops and restaurants galore with everything from clothing stores to flowers and souvenirs. If you were looking for a good place to find the perfect thing to bring home to those who could not join you, this is the place to find it. If you have a little more time on your hands explore the areas that aren’t stores a little further. There is always the Whisper Room. In Vanderbilt Hall, art exhibits are often shown. New ones coming in all the time and old ones being taken someplace else.

One of the things that makes all of this possible is the amazing architecture. There are even small little details that help the millions of people move through this terminal every day such as the sizes of the tiles which correlate to the average length of hands, legs and arms. Supposedly this helps prevent collisions and blockages.
