By planning ahead, travelers can lock in discount prices for a variety of things and insulate themselves from rising rates. Securing Your Home with Lights

Home security is nothing to slouch on. While crime rates seem to be stabilizing or even falling in some areas, there’s no excuse for not taking steps to protect your home from burglars or home invasion.

While elaborate security systems with video surveillance, patrol guards, and customized alarms and locks are out of the budget of many homeowners, most can afford to install some basic security lights to supplement sturdy locks on doors and windows.

Outdoor security lights are effective because thieves don’t want to be seen. A well-lit house is much less attractive than a dark one. The last thing a burglar wants to to be bathed in light while trying to pick a lock or leave a home with loot. Carefully placed lights on timers or motion sensors are a great deterrent against home break ins. Make sure that all entrances to a home, including small basement windows or recessed doors, have adequate lighting at night. You may even want to install floodlights on main entrances and lights on walkways and driveways to further illuminate access to your home. This has the added advantage of making areas safer for residents and invited guests as well as keeping away the uninvited ones.
